Hinking and listening to the stag’s roars

Suggestive excursion along the path of the Ripe of Tuscany for listening to the roars of the stag. We are in its reproductive season and the males of this imposing animal, during this period are particularly visible and "vociferous". The powerful call of the dominant male is heard miles away, in an attempt to defend its harem from the advances of young stags in search of a fleeting love experience.

Starting from the Agriturismo Poderone, you will first pass through the Monte della Maestà, then through the ruins of Castellaccio di Corniolino until you reach Lake Corniolo. From here you will go up the valley of Celle, dotted with its mountain houses, some of which are still inhabited.

After a few hundred meters you leave the forest road to start along the CAI path: after a few kilometers the so-called "Ripe of Tuscany" are manifested in our eyes. Still a little road and you get to the town of Pian del Grado, beautiful village once animated by partisan operations. The last stretch of trail takes us back to the Agriturismo Poderone.
